First Nations Awards Ceremony Women of the Dawn Inc. Services News contact

Women of the Dawn Inc.

Women of the Dawn is a grassroots, non-profit organization headquartered in Regina Saskatchewan. Women of the Dawn was established in 1993 by a group of First Nation's women who saw a need to work with other urban first Nations women in the mutual pursuit of self- reliance and social and economic self sufficiency.

The women of the Dawn is now offering counselling services geared towards addressing residential school issues that are prevalent among the current urban population. We deliver workshops and on-site programs tailored to our local community. We have received support from the Aboriginal Healing Foundation and are currently seeking additional support from the United Church of Canada.

Ivy Kenndy Forbes (Founder)

As Founder of Women of the Dawn, I would like to congratulate the nominees and the winners of the First Nations Awards. The Awards were set up to recognize the achievements of our First Nation People. It is such an honor to be a part of this event just to see the excitement in the recipients' eyes. I encourage all First Nation Bands to nominate the achievements of their people. I would like to thank all our sponsors and everyone that contibutes to this event especially our volunteers.
