Plans for Canadian Turtles
WHAT ARE THE PLANS FOR CANADIAN TURTLES,
YOU ASK?
Here are some of the plans that Canadian
Turtles have in the making:
1) Turtle Day - This young Canadian
Turtle club is hoping to celebrate its first TURTLE DAY, sometimes during the
summer of 2007. No specific agenda has been set for this day, but you
can rest assured that it will include some "responsible" indulgence
of fun and entertainment. Location is still to be determined, but we
hope to have all turtles in attendance.
2) Turtle Parade - During the summer
of 2007, the City of Regina holds its annual Travellers' Day parade, and
includes many, many floats and recognitions of other service clubs. And,
yes, turtles do provide a service to the community. So, we hope to have
a presence in the 2007 Travellers' (Turtles') Day Parade.
3) Turtle City - We will soon be
confirming our official Turtle City in Canada, more specifically Turtleford,
Saskatchewan. We need to seek approval of City Council in Turtleford
that they will support us recognizing their fair city as our mascot city in
Canada.
4) Turtle Pins - Yes, we now have
our official Canadian pewter turtle pins! These will be given out to
every turtle club member along with an official turtle membership card.
5) Turtle Membership Cards - These
recorded, lifetime, membership cards are currtently being developed, and will
soon be available to existing turtles and all new ones.
6) Turtle Drink - Turtles everywhere
in Canada will be submitting their ideas for a turtle drink that will become
our official turtle drink. Only one requirement - that it be green
in colour.
7) Turtle Hats - by mid summer
of 2007, we hope to have a supply of turtle hats for sale. Desing
and prices are still to be determined. You guessed it, they will be
green and yellow, which happen to be Saskatchewan's colors, and
"green" is the color of the Saskatchewan Rough Rider football club.
8) Turtle Chocolates - You guessed
it, our official chocolate will be non other than "Turtles".
We will soon be contacting Nestles to seek their approval and perhaps
some funding support.
9) Turtle Flag - Now here's an idea
that can go places. Eventually we hope to have an official Canadian Turtle
flag.
10) Turtle Convention -Canadian
Turtles hope to have an annual convention of turtles, with nothing more than
fun and good times on the agenda.
So, stay tuned for the development of the
above plans for Canadian Turtles.
To all our brother and sister turtles in
the U.S. Please remember, we are all brothers and sister turtles. Please
wear your turtle pins at all times so we can recognize each other and
introduce ourselves as turtles. We in Canada appreciate all that brother
and sister turtles in the U.S. have accomplished so far. We only hope we
can carry on this wonderful tradition.
